Whether it’s giving the best advice when you’re in a panic or a brutal opinion of your outfit, you can always count on your mum. So, to celebrate the queen she is on the 11th, we’ve teamed up with DesignMyNight for the best things to do on Mothering Sunday. From a decade of divas cabaret show to a live jazz lunch; here’s how to have her smiling from ear to ear.
Mother’s Day Live Jazz Lunch - London
Combing beloved roasts with smooth jazz; you’ll love what Scoff & Banter in Kensington have planned for Mother’s Day. She’ll be greeted with a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival, then you can both enjoy roast beef with yorkies, duck fat roast potatoes and creamy cauliflower cheese, with Eton mess or apple crumble for pudding; all set to a soundtrack of live jazz music.
Mother’s Day Bottomless Brunch - London
A boozy brunch with a touch of Absolutely Fabulous? If you and your mum are as close as Edina and Patsy, make your way to Great Guns Social on the 11th for a boozy Mother’s Day brunch. You’ll be feasting on a Korean-inspired menu crafted by resident chef Jay Morjaria, and washing everything down with free-flowing fizz (or as the Ab Fab ladies would say, bolly, darling).
Treat Your Mama! - London
If you’re after a way to spoil your mum rotten on the 11th, Karma Sanctum Soho Hotel are going the whole nine yards with a three-course Sunday roast meal or afternoon tea. Mother dearest will be greeted with a glass of Champagne, before being presented with a delicious meal (think grilled salmon with hollandaise followed by chocolate truffle torte with raspberry sorbet). If your mum’s a cake lover, the Ladies High Heels Tea features prosecco, finger sandwiches, scones and a mini sweet selection.
Little Nan’s Catford Mother’s Day Bottomless Boozy Brunch - London
If your mum is an Eastenders fan and will appreciate Pat Butcher memorabilia, wonderfully kitsch interiors and vintage trinkets; you’ve got to book for the Little Nan’s Mother’s Day brunch. Expect to feast on a quintessentially British spread of sausage rolls, scotch eggs, pastries, and pineapple and cheese, with one of their iconic cocktail teapots (named after Lionel Richie and Duchess Kate). If you’re after a fun way to show your muvva you love her, this is it.
Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea - London
We don’t care what anyone says, it’s a certified fact that 99.9% of mums love afternoon tea; so why not treat the special lady in your life to a day at Six Storeys? You’ll be making your way through dainty duck egg mayo and cress sandwiches, Bakewell tarts and mini cream buns. This will be paired with a dribble-worthy selection of teas and a coupe of prosecco; but if you want to go all-out, upgrade to bottomless fizz, wine or punch.
Happy Mommi’s Day - London
Nothing says ‘I love you’ like mouth-watering grub, and if your mum happens to be into big flavours, treat her to Mommi’s special lunch on the 11th March. Their bespoke three-course menu will include the likes of sashimi, ceviche and tempura to start, followed by a Peruvian roast (think teriyaki beef brisket with trimmings) and passion fruit, yuzu and ginger cheesecake for dessert. Served alongside a crafted cocktail; if this doesn’t impress the number one lady in your life, nothing will.
Mother’s Day Painting Special - Manchester
If you want to do something a little different this Mother’s Day, get creative with a painting pop-up at Manchester Hotel. You’ll be tackling Monet’s famous Iris painting, alongside some vino to get those creative juices flowing. All of the equipment will be provided, and the soundtrack will lend itself heavily to the French Impressionist era, obviously.
Life Is A Cabaret Mother’s Day Special - Liverpool
If you and your mum happen to live for great female singers; be it Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Madonna or Cher - head to Garlands’ Mother’s Day cabaret. Larger-than-life drag acts will be performing decades worth of diva hits, where you can sing along or get involved in one of their tongue-in-cheek games (with prizes up for grabs). You will be greeted with a glass of prosecco on arrival, and there will be 2-4- 1 cocktails throughout the show.
Mother’s Day At Hotel Du Vin - Birmingham
Spoil your mum silly this Mother’s Day with a four-course Sunday lunch at Hotel Du Vin. This beautiful bistro is pulling out all the stops this year, with a glass of Champagne and a gift of chocolates for the special lady. The meal will then kick off with an amuse bouche, and feature everything from roast sirloin of Scotch beef with all the trimmings, to a black forest gateau with cherry sorbet.
Mother’s Day At Stanmer House - Brighton
Stanmer House is a beautiful Grade listed country house, and they’re offering all kinds of ways to treat your mum on the 11th. Whether you want to have breakfast in their pretty dining room, enjoy afternoon tea or try their delicious Sunday carvery with a live jazz trio providing the soundtrack; there’s more than one way to show your mum you love her.
