Let’s face it, there aren't many things a towering burger can’t solve. Sometimes you need to indulge, and with National Burger Day coming up on the 24th, you do have the perfect excuse. Here at DesignMyNight, we have the low-down on where to find the best sliders across the UK. From London to Brighton, get your elasticated trousers at the ready.
1. Meat and Shake - London
When it comes to knocking up delicious burgers, Meat and Shake in Tooting know exactly what they’re doing. You’ll find a truckload of meaty, barbecued delights on the menu. But we say try why not try the Rib ‘n’ Cheese for National Burger Day? This beast contains their special pulled beef rib, Monterey Jack cheese, slatherings of BBQ sauce and aioli. Thank us later, folks.
2. Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen - London
After conquering festivals (and Cara Delevingne's taste buds) Saucy Chip have found a home in Fitzrovia’s Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen. Trust us when we say they serve some of the best burgers around. Why not try the Saucy Devil Burger? It’s made with rare breed beef, topped with chilli cheese, crispy bacon, onion jam, lashings of holy fk mayo and holy fk sauce then topped with pickles and lettuce. It’s not for the faint hearted, that's for sure.
3. Dog Bowl - Manchester
Dog Bowl is not only a snazzy bar with ten-pin bowling lanes; it also happens to dish up some of the most delicious burgers in Manchester. Head down on the 24th and say hello to The Lane Closer. This towering slider is made with two beef patties, loadsa American cheese, pulled pork, tater tots and lashings of burger sauce. It’s also topped with, wait for it - a mini beef burger, just because.
4. Honest Burgers Soho - London
If you haven't visited Honest Burgers yet, make it your duty to do so on the 24th. They have specialities a burger-lover can only dream of and they’re pulling out all the stops for National Burger Day. They’ve collaborated with the Quality Chop House to create Meat & Potatoes. This beauty is made with a beef patty, red Leicester, rosemary salted confit potato, mustard, beef, onion mayo and garnished with a pickle.
5. Trinity Arms- London
If you’re going out for a burger in Brixton on the 24th, make sure you pay the Trinity Arms a visit. With an entire burger shack menu, you know you're going to get the goods here. There are six types to choose from, but we say go for The Lamb. It’s a spring Dorset lamb burger topped with homemade aioli, beefy tomatoes, red onion and shredded lettuce. All with a portion of rosemary fries to go with.
6. Buffalo & Rye - Birmingham
If you're after a mouth-watering burger in Birmingham, there’s no better place than Buffalo & Rye. Rustic American diner vibes mixed with locally sourced meat, makes for some divine burgers. It would be rude not to try the Buffalo Black. This beauty contains a double beef patty, homemade black pudding, American cheese, lashings of burger sauce and sautéed onions. Why not enjoy it alongside one of their whisky cocktails?
7. Mash Tun - Brighton
If you're in Brighton on the 24th, make it your business to try one of Mash Tun’s burgers. A much-loved pub with Sidekick Kitchen providing the eats, it’s a must-visit for any burger lover. There’s obviously a number of dreamy options, but we say chomp down on the almighty Chewbacca. It contains a dirty buttermilk fried chicken thigh, ‘bangin’ fried onions and a homemade satay sauce.
8. Steak, Cattle & Roll - Glasgow
Steak, Cattle & Roll is a bustling burger joint in Glasgow, known for its scrumptious twists on American classics. They’ve everything from The New Yorker to The Canadian, but we say why not try The Steak, Cattle & Roll. This beauty is made with a beef burger, 28 day hung ribeye steak and topped with melted cheddar cheese, pan-fried onions then smothered in lashings of peppercorn sauce. They’ve also got a vegan burger menu and they do Irn Bru milkshakes.
9. Joe's Southern Table - London
Joe’s Southern Table is all about deep Southern flavours, so you can expect a tasty affair when you visit. The menu is full of succulent bites, but it’s The BBQ Bun you’ll want to sink your teeth into on the 24th. It’s made with Southern fried chicken thigh, bacon, BBQ sauce, then smothered with Monterey Jack cheese and their homemade slaw.
10. Dirty Bones - London
‘Mac ‘n’ cheese doesn't belong in a burger’ - said no one ever. If you think you’ve seen it all, you’ve seen nothing until you’ve laid your eyes on Dirty Bones’ notorious MacDaddy burger. It’s comprised of a brisket and dry aged steak patty, then topped with pulled beef short rib a towering pile of mac ‘n’ cheese, finished with burnt onion and ale BBQ sauce. This is no tidy burger to eat, so we suggest one of their stupendous cocktails as an accompaniment.
