British weather can be unpredictable at the best of times. Summer’s officially here, and we’ll be damned if the weather's gonna rain on our parade. There’s all manner of events going on across the UK this month. Luckily for you, we have the low-down on all the best ones. From a party in East London with endless pizza and free-flowing cocktails to cinema nights under the stars. July’s gonna be a good one!
1. London Shuffle Club - London
You better get your game face on. There’s a pop-up coming to East London this month that’s dedicated, entirely, to shuffleboard. Wondering what the hell shuffleboard is? It’s a retro game that we pinched from our American pals and it’s a cross between bowling and curling. Decked out with tonnes of neon signage, green palm trees and pink flamingos, we won’t judge you for thinking you’re in Miami. London Pizza Club will be providing cheese soaked slices and there will be all manner of summer libations to keep your competitive side fuelled.
2. Luna Cinema - London
What could be better than settling down to watch a film? Settling down to watch a film in a beautiful London location, duh. Throughout July, The Luna Cinema will be showing an impressive roster of much-loved movies in Grade II listed buildings and world heritage sites aplenty. So, whether you want to bask in the beauty of St Paul's as you watch The Goonies, or catch JAWS at the idyllic Brockwell Lido; Luna Cinema has you covered.
3. Cocktails In The City - London
Unleash your inner cocktail aficionado this July and nab a ticket to Cocktails in The City. Taking place in the beautiful Bedford Square Gardens, this alfresco event is every cocktail lover's dream, with 26 of London’s best bars taking part. For a nifty £15, you’ll get a welcome tipple and the opportunity to taste limited edition drinks for just £7.50 a pop. A BBQ will be on hand too!
4. Whistle Punks - Manchester
Want to try something new and exhilarating this summer? Cue Whistle Punks, the new urban axe throwing craze. Gather your friends, engage your focus and sling axes at the bullseye. Unusual as it may be, it’s a fantastic way to let off some steam. Trusty pros will be on hand to help you with techniques, and if you feel like you’ve got the hang of things, you can do a team tournament.
5. Vegan Festival - Cardiff
Vegan or not, if you want to do something cool in Cardiff this July, mosey to the Welsh Vegan Festival. There will be over 70 stalls selling delicious homemade food, health conscious drinks and vegan craft beers. You’ll also find clothes and accessories amongst the mix, so you could walk away with, not only a belly-full of great food but unique and ethically sound goodies too.
6. Birmingham Cocktail Weekend - Birmingham
Nab a £10 ticket for Birmingham Cocktail Weekend. You’ll get a special guidebook listing all venues taking part and access to loads of free masterclasses and tastings. Your wristband will also entitle to you £4 signature serves from some of the city’s best hangouts.
7. Handmade Mysteries - Brighton
How far would you and your cronies go for a bottle of vino? The Black Lion pub in Brighton is hosting a unique and twisted escape room experience this July, and you’d be a fool to miss it. Lady Chastity’s Reserve will have you working your way through all manner of clues, encountering plenty of odd contraptions along the way. It’s the perfect solution if you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary. The winners will walk away with a bottle of Lady Chastity’s fabled aphrodisiac wine.
8. Overdough - The Pizza Party - London
If there’s one type of food we’ll never tire of eating - it’s pizza. Head down to The Strongroom Bar and Kitchen on Saturday 15th and get hyped for Overdough - The Pizza Party. Promising an hour of endless cocktails followed by another hour of endless pizza, it’s guaranteed to be one of the funnest events in July. They’ll also have a hip hop karaoke session, if you think you’ve got the vocals to get the crowd going.
9. Ales Tales - London
Fancy heading to London’s first ever Belgian beer festival? Ales Tales will be hitting Oval Space for a two-day extravaganza this month, in a bid to celebrate all things craft. Tickets are £40, but they include a festival glass and unlimited tastings from over 20 authentic Belgian craft brewers. Discovering their brilliant beer culture will undoubtedly work up an appetite. Why not fill your belly with authentic eats like double fried chips with mayo, shrimp croquettes and meatballs in beer sauce?
10. Alfred Le Roy - London
Embrace the Sunday funday vibe this July and hop aboard one of Alfred Le Roy’s OverPoured cruises. Departing from Hackney Wick, this quaint boat will cruise down the River Lea to a relaxing soundtrack. Tickets are £12.50, but we say treat yourself to bottomless prosecco, mimosas and Bloody Marys for an extra £25.
