iOS 11 is here: The lowdown
It's official, the iPad's capability has been turned up to 11 and it's about the get real up in here. There are loads of awesome new features for iOS 11 and I thought I'd run you through some of my favourite ones!
1. Files are life
The new Files app makes sure that all of your files live together in harmony. You can browse, search and organise (my favourite thing to do) all of your files on your iPad in one place. Plus you can locate recent files really easily across all of your devices as long as they're stored in the iCloud Drive or somewhere like Dropbox. So. Damn. Easy.
2. The dock has changed!
Yep, and I like it better. Your dock is now available on any screen with just a swipe up. Open it and switch between apps instantly. It also changes intelligently as you work and offers up recently opened apps and suggests things that you might like to use such as apps that you last used on your Mac or iPhone.
3. Better multitasking
Not like I needed any help with that smug emoji. But, seriously, this is awesome. iOS 11 makes it easier and it's now more intuitive to multi-task. You can use two apps at one time and see them in the Split View as well as Slide Over.
4. Drag and drop is here
You can now move photos, text and files from one app to another. You can move almost anything anywhere on the screen. So, want to drag that photo from your files to an email? So easy!
5. Apple pencil is amazing
"iOS 11 makes Apple Pencil for iPad Pro more versatile, powerful and natural than ever. It’s more useful for all kinds of tasks, such as taking notes, getting work done or simply being creative." There are instant notes, instant markup and inline drawing. Plus, your handwritten notes are now searchable.
6. Sign on the go
With the Apple pencil and the new 'Scan and Sign' feature, you can scan in documents using the Notes app which then automatically sense and scans the document, removes glare, crops the edges and makes it perfectly straight. Fill in your blanks, sign your name or correct your details. Sweet!
7. QuickType keyboard
No more switching between keyboards for letters, numbers and symbols, they're now all on the same keyboard and all you need to do is flick down on a key to select the one you want.
8. Augmented reality is here to stay
"iOS 11 introduces ARKit, a new framework that brings augmented reality to hundreds of millions of iOS devices by allowing developers to easily build unparalleled AR experiences. By blending digital objects and information with the environment around you, augmented reality takes apps beyond the screen, freeing them to interact with the real world in entirely new ways. Like never before, games and apps can offer fantastically immersive and fluid experiences that are out of this world, yet virtually within it."
With iOS 11, iPhone and iPad are the most powerful, personal and intelligent devices they’ve ever been.Apple
9. Live photos
These are now more expressive, exciting and creative than ever! You can loop them, add a bounce effect and even alter the exposure length.
10. Normal photos are improved
There are new professional-quality filters that can take your snaps to another level. "Next-generation compression technology lets you take new photos with the same quality as before at half the file size."
11. The all-new App Store
With daily stories from experts, new apps to discover, a dedicated Games tab and more, the new App Store is pretty awesome.
