It feels like we were only just putting away the Christmas tree! But, somehow we are four months in 2017 and Easter is already here. And as quickly as it’s come, I'm sure many of you haven’t had the time to plan anything exciting with that dissertation deadline just around the corner! Apologies for the reminder.

Here are five easy fix ideas for a fun four-day Easter weekend. Whether you are on a budget or not - don’t worry. These will guarantee you the super-duper long weekend we’ve been looking forward to for so long.

1. Picnic

You don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant to enjoy good food and spend quality time with your friends and family. In fact, picnics are so much better after you’ve had long months of winter being stuck indoors. Take advantage of the sunshine with your friends or family. Grab some wine, quick and easy food, get the badminton set out and you are in for a day filled with fun and laughter!

2. Host a movie or game night

If you're looking for an entertaining and chilled night in, be the leader and organise a night in! Choose either lots of fun games (who doesn’t love a bit of React and Act?) or movies and the hardest decision is choosing your snacks!

3. Have a bake-off

Nothing says home like the smell of fresh baking right? Considering how much chocolate we'll be consuming over the Easter weekend, having a bake off probably isn’t the wisest decision... But, calories don’t count on the weekends, right? (Or at least I like to think so!) It’s fun and it’s a great way to catch up with the family and feel productive.

4. Go for a walk

Sometimes it’s all about the simple things in life. Living our busy lives, we forget to enjoy and make the most of the things that really matter. Clear your head, explore the outdoors and enjoy nature with the people you love! I promise you will feel like a brand new person after.

5. Learn about different cultures

We obviously love our tradition of chocolate eggs hunting but why not learn more about how other countries do Easter? It's a great opportunity to soak up new cultures and step away from ‘the same old, same old’. Did you know that boys in Hungary, sprinkle water over a young woman’s head, and ask for a kiss? Get the buckets ready, lads!
