That dreadful time of the year is on the approach…sigh. Exam time is looming. Although it comes around every year, unlike Easter, it’s not exactly a time of year that has us all jumping for joy. It’s important to get yourself prepped and raring to go to ensure that you’re in the best position possible ahead of exams.
A good working space is a basic yet important part of exam prep and revision. With this in mind, I’ve done the hard work for you and shortlisted some of the best ways to turn your room into a zen retreat. Somewhere you can kick back, relax, sink into those new fluffy sheets and hit the books for revision. Thank me later.
1. De-clutter
My first top tip for revision is to reduce as much clutter, distraction and mess as possible. Try to keep your books, stationery etc. organised and easily accessible. I love the idea of taking clear plastic makeup drawer’s or glass jewellery boxes and using them as trinkets to store your stationery. They can be easily placed on top of your desk or chest of drawers and make it so easy to see where everything is rather than scrabbling around at the last minute for a biro!
2. Plant life
Plants are great for aiding concentration and creating a calm and productive atmosphere. They also add some colour to what might otherwise be a dull magnolia uni room. My next top tip is to introduce some nature into your space. This ‘I Will Survive’ plant pot is particularly fitting to keep that revision momentum going! Plus how cute are the artificial cacti and plants from New Look? Don't forget to use your discount too!
3. Up the cosy factor
Textiles, rugs, throws and cushions are definitely my go to for upping the cosy factor in any room. A fluffy rug or throw draped over your desk chair will keep you feeling snug. Or you could adorn your bed with as many cushions and blankets as you can handle to really sink into and switch off after a long day of studying. Another way to add textiles is to drape fabric over the ceiling of your bed to create a canopy. This fun tip adds colour and pattern to your room and also makes the bed space even more cosy and relaxing.
4. Light it up
Fairy lights and lamps are also great ways to change the mood and atmosphere of a room. They can transform it into the perfect space to get cosy, calm and log off for the day. I like the idea of draping fairy lights around your headboard or over a bookshelf. Check out this fairy light lamp from Modcloth, it’s a neat way to feature these twinkly favourites in your space!
5. Organisation is key
Lastly – and perhaps most importantly is to make sure you have a pin board or schedule within eye shot of the area you do most of your revision. Having a list of your revision requirements timetabled out ahead of time is a great way of prioritising what you need to revise. I love the idea of having a to-do list notepad on my desk so that I know I’m keeping on top of things!
