Been dreamin' of those LFW looks? The babes over at Cloud Nine did the hair for Anya Hindmarch and Charlotte Olympia and we've got the goss on which products they used and how to get the model's looks!
Anya Hindmarch S/S17 LFW
Legendary stylist Sam McKnight created a futuristic ‘facelift’ pony backstage at Anya Hindmarch.
The inspiration
The hair look was inspired by facelifts and bandages – with a statement neoprene headpiece c/o Stephen Jones. A high-shine finish provided a stark contrast to the matte pieces running throughout Anya’s SS17 collection. ‘The bandage makes the hair look theatrical and surreal – it transforms the models into a bit of an Anya army.’
It’s very futuristic, super-shiny hair that contrasts with the matte clothes.Sam McKnight
Pro how-to
Section freshly-washed hair and mist with hairspray, before straightening with The Original Iron for a super-sleek finish. The Micro Iron can also be used to straighten shorter, hair around the neck and hairline.
Working with a middle parting, separate the hair into one-inch sections of hair and smooth from the top of the head into a pony to avoid bumps.
Smooth hair into a super-clean low ponytail and secure with elastic cord at the nape of the neck.
The figure-of-eight Stephen Jones bandage headpiece provided the final runway hair statement. We recommend using a scarf or headband to recreate the look at home.
Charlotte Olympia S/S17 LFW
Sam McKnight also created the amazing screen siren waves backstage at Charlotte Olympia.
The inspiration
The ‘Let’s Go Bananas’ collection called for a Broadway take on beauty. His hair muse gang included Jean Harlow, Carmen Miranda and Katharine Hepburn. Think 30s set waves with shine to 40s undone curls with day-old texture.
This is different takes on Hollywood hair and texture is key to each styleSam McKnight
Pro how-to
Prep with mousse for hold and blow-dry with Cloud Nine The Airshot hairdryer using a large, round brush to smooth in preparation for the rollers.
Once hair is fully dry, take hair in small sections and use Cloud Nine The O heated rollers, starting at the crown and working your way forward. Aim for five to six rollers each side and seven through the middle.
Remove rollers once completely cool.
Use a very light mist of hairspray and brush the hair back on itself so it naturally falls into a wave.
