#FreeTheBellyButton
This summer, it's all about the cropped shirt. It's time we finally let our belly buttons breathe!
But, as with most trends, there are lots of different ways to wear it. Even if you're not comfortable showing your stomach to the world, there are ways for you to join in the fun!
Since we're giving away a $150 gift card to American Eagle, which is basically crop top HEAVEN, here are a bunch of different ways to rock whatever crop tops you grab with your winnings. Make them your own!
1. A matching set
An easy way to wear a crop top is with matching bottoms, so you know it'll fit together nicely. This is a great look for those who don't want to show off too much belly, but want a little bit of skin to peek through. Plus, it's one of the easiest outfits EVER to throw on and go (even though both pieces would look amazing with other outfits, too!). Definitely a worthwhile investment.
2. Layered
Want to wear your denim jacket without getting overheated? There's an easy solution: a CROP TOP. It adds a little bit of flair to any outfit you have on, and is the perfect look for a night out.
3. Longer-line crops
You can get away with a crop top without showing your stomach at ALL, if you want to! Getting a longer tube top is a great way to avoid having to tuck your shirt into your jeans (it gets so bunched up sometimes!), while still staying as covered up as you want to be. Pair it with some high waisted pants or shorts and you'll have 99% coverage.
4. With a midi skirt
Midi skirts are in right now, which gives you even more of an excuse to show a little bit more skin up top (not that you need any excuse!!!). Pair a cropped tee with a midi skirt for a quick, easy, and extreeeemely chic look.
5. Full coverage
Another way to wear a crop top without showing more skin than you'd like to is by wearing it over another tank or dress. Tie up a button down shirt over some biker shorts or a skirt with a tank, and your tummy will feel nice and safe.
6. DIY it!
If you take a shirt that isn't a crop top and tie it up, you'll have full control of how long or short your top is. Want to tie it up and show off those abs? Go for it! Want to tie it right where your jeans hit, so you barely show any skin? That's great too. Do what makes you happy. There's always room for experimentation!
7. The higher the waist, the closer to heaven (LOL)
A crop top and high waisted jeans go together like PB & J. If you're on the shorter side, this is also a great way to elongate your frame and make yourself appear taller! But, obvi, everyone can rock this look, regardless how long or short your trunk is!
8. Frame it
Crop tops are a great way to show off whatever feature you're most proud of. Have you been working on those abs? Show off your hard work and progress! Regardless of what you want to highlight, different cuts can help to frame you and flatter your body in different ways. Try different cuts on to see which you like best!
9. I'm in the band
Bandeaus are all the rage right now, which is especially handy during beach szn since it means you can get away with wearing your bathing suit top as a shirt! Pair your swim top with some shorts or jeans and you'll be ready to take a dip anytime, anywhere.
10. Tie it up
If you want to add a little ~razzle dazzle~ to your look, and provide a little bit more belly coverage, opt for a tie-front shirt. It's a perfect day-to-night look, it keeps you cool, and it can be adjusted to whatever length or style you want! We love a versatile moment.
