Champagne (or sparkling cider) is great and all... but it can get a tad bit boring. A staple of New Year's parties for ages, it's time to upgrade from the same old, same old. Below are 18 cocktails* that'll help you ring in the new year and please your guests long after the clock strikes twelve:
1. Champagne Margaritas
Margaritas always make a party. A champagne margarita makes a New Year's party.
2. Black Velvet
Hear me out. Champagne + beer = a cocktail people will be talking about well into 2018.
3. Mimosa Floats
An adult take on a classic favorite, you can never go wrong with pairing champagne with sherbet. Add in sprinkles and white chocolate and you've got a party.
4. Lemon Drop Champagne Punch
Lemon makes everything better, I refuse to hear otherwise. Upgrade your champagne with lemon and vodka and you're certain to have a happy new year.
5. The Misty Mint
Nothing says winter like a hint of mint. Plus this cocktail will go great with whatever dinner you've cooked up. Whether it's a roast or take out.
6. Kokomo
Take a trip back in time to 1959 with this tropical drink. Cream of coconut will have you wishing you were in Hawaii... and I don't blame you.
7. Champagne and St. Germain
Winter isn't usually a time for flowers but the floral hints in a Champagne and St. Germain cocktail will have you feeling as if you've stumbled across a field. Also the name rhymes so it's REALLY fun to say.
8. Hard Cider Spritz
Why have just a hard cider when you can have a hard cider spritz? Whiskey based, it'll have you feeling very much like an adult (even though you're far from it).
9. Turquoise Sip
Break away from the typical champagne cocktail with the Turquoise Sip. Fresh and fruity, it'll have you puckering up by the time the clock strikes midnight.
10. Candied Grapefruit Cocktail
Gin may be a bit much for some, but grapefruit will let you forget the dumpster fire that was 2017.
11. Champagne Jello Shots
Not much to say besides it's like a jello shot.... but WAY classier.
12. Red Velvet Cake Martini
New Year's Eve is all about decadence and nothing is more decadent than red velvet cake. Not really much of a baker? That's alright. Your guests (or just yourself) will love the martini version.
13. 24 Carat Champagne Cocktail
While usually a cocktail for the Oscars, your NYE party deserves the best and what is better than a 24 carat cocktail? Using Moet is of course, optional.
14. Raspberry-Lime Champagne Punch
You could just dump a bottle of champagne into a punch bowl and call it a night BUT this is a far more sophisticated way to share it with your guests.
15. Limoncello Raspberry Prosecco Cooler
By now you've probably noticed a theme... it's cold so I miss summer ergo I've picked champagne cocktails that are good no matter the season. Being refreshed after 2017 is what you deserve so kick back and relax.
16. Bourbon Cheesecake Shots
Cheesecake, good. Cheesecake shots, even better. Mix the best of both worlds to top off a sour 2017 with a sweet 2018.
17. Spiked Sherbert Frappe Punch
Sherbert punch is a staple of wedding season but is also the perfect drink to class up your NYE party. In the dead of winter, this pink drink will have you ready for Summer 2018 in a big way.
18. New Year's Countdown Cocktail
A tradition in Spain, this cocktail is a predictor of the year to come. A sour grape represents a less than great month whereas a sweet grape represents a good month. Pop the skewer in champagne or sparkling cider depending on your preference. *These cocktails can be made with substitutions for non-alcohol fueled fun!
