~Reading Rainbow~
Reading for fun while in college is something that I have no interest in doing since I’m constantly having to read textbooks, but now that summer is here I have made it a goal to read as much as possible. I forget how fun reading is and how much I love it. One of the biggest tasks is finding a book that’s actually good and grabs your attention from the start. If you’re like me, if a book isn’t interesting from the very beginning, the chances of me finishing the book are slim to none. I have come up with a list of books that I have read that I’m sure you won’t be able to put down:
1. My Boyfriend Wrote A Book About Me
This girl had me actually laughing out loud at coffee shops. The stories that she tells are so raw and honest and it’ll honestly make you feel like you’re not alone in your hardships of dating and life; someone else has gone through the same (maybe worse) things! It reminded me that men are pretty much the worst, and that as women, we need to stand our ground a lot of the time and not let anyone dictate our lives. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that there aren’t good guys out there, but this is not what the book is about. Her humor and storytelling reminds me of Mindy Kalling, which as you know, is A+. This is not fiction, so if you’re looking for something that is, keep reading I’ll get to it.
2. Brain on Fire
Okay so there are a lot of Netflix originals that just came out and thankfully, this is one that’s also a book!! So I watched the movie before I read the book but thankfully my roommate had read the book a while ago so she had it and I could read it as soon as I got my hands on it. Let me tell you, it was SO good. As good as the movie, and you guys know that’s rarely the case. This is a true story, which I could not believe because the things that happened to this poor girl are insane. There are a lot of medical terms in the book, but none that I didn’t already know about. Don’t let that discourage you though. It’s so good that you won’t want to put it down and think of this as an incentive; as soon as you’re done reading it, you can grab your laptop and watch the movie.
3. Call Me By Your Name
Bet you didn’t know this was a book too! Yep, totally is and totally worth reading. Unless you don’t like romance books then this probably isn’t for you. It is a little slower than the movie but there is so much more details that you’ll be over the moon. There are are some passages that will have you re-read it at least 2 times because they’re so well written and you can see the perfect image in your head. It’s a perfect, sit by the lake/beach and tan book.
