Chicago, Chicago, that toddlin' town...

Chicago is one of the most notable cities in the United States. It officially became a city in the 1800s, so needless to say there’s a ton of history here.

While Chicago has some areas that are kind of meh, there are also some amazing places to see and experience.

1. Wicker Park

Wicker Park is a suburb of Chicago, and many would tell you that it’s the hipster capital of the city. I, for one, love it- does that make me a hipster? Anyway, Wicker Park is a relaxing area that is close enough to downtown but not quite in the city itself. There is a plethora of coffee shops, vintage shops, as well as super cool restaurants and bars.

2. The Magnificent Mile

If you are staying in Chicago (especially if you're a shopper), this is the place for you! The Mag Mile is conveniently located in the midst of shopping, hotels, and restaurants. It stretches across almost all of the iconic Michigan Avenue and then some. Some of the notable spots that you’ll find along The Mag Mile are: Apple, Nike, Nordstrom, Rolex, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, The Signature Room at The 95th, Spiaggia, and many more!

3. Cloud Gate

There’s not a whole lot to say about this, but if you look up pictures of Chicago, chances are you will see a picture of Cloud Gate. However, no one in Chicago calls it Cloud Gate… Actually I’m not sure that anyone outside of Chicago even calls it that, so we unofficially renamed it The Bean.

4. Buckingham Fountain

The Buckingham Fountain is a massive fountain along Michigan Avenue. It’s a beautiful site in the summer, especially on a summer night because of its stunning lights! This is a great place to bring your significant other and relax on one of the benches.

5. The Riverwalk

This is a super cool place to take a stroll. It’s right along the Chicago River with plenty of bars and dining along the walk, with great views of some of Chicago’s coolest buildings. One of my favorite places to visit along The River Walk is City Winery.

6. State Street

There is so much history amongst the iconic State Street. Al Capone and his gang drove down this street, and Frank Sinatra even sung about it. Along with shopping opportunities, many people come to State Street because it’s within the city’s theater district. The iconic Chicago Theatre is along State Street, with other theaters nearby such as The Cadillac Palace, Goodman Theater, and The Oriental Theater.

I hope you take a trip to this beautiful city, there is so many things to see and do- this is barely touching on it.
