Cosplay not your thing?
Do you prefer a more ~subtle~ look to your con attire? Let's be real, there's nothing subtle about attending SDCC. In fact, you're just not as cool if you don't participate in SOME sort of dressing up (which can be anything from a graphic tee to a full on gender-bent Loki). If you're not going (i.e. like me because I unfortunately missed out on tickets) and still need some inspo, check out these looks you can do whether you're at the con or following a thread on Twitter about it.
1. Villains
Sometimes it's good to be bad, okay? If you identify more with the villain in a story rather than the hero (i.e. you wanted Scar to be king and thought Simba was a bit whiny), any ONE of these looks will have you embracing your inner evil.
2. Marvel
This year marks the MCU's 10th anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with an homage at the mecca of all things comic, Comic Con? Doesn't matter if you're Team Cap or Team Iron Man, you can still be Earth's mightiest hero.
3. Toy Story
You've got a friend in me because I helped put together this list. Everyone wants to be Buzz or Woody but could I interest you in a Bo Peep instead? Or why not pick your own character and spin on a look?
4. Disney Princesses
This is an absolute classic. Disney princesses will never go out of style and there are SO many you pick from. Tiana? Mulan? Belle? PICK YO PRINCESS.
5. Rick & Morty
WUBBA LUBB DUB DUB! Just in case you don't want to get fully riggity-riggity-wrecked (aka you don't want to go the full Rick Sanchez) just make your eyes say it all. And you know what they say.... GRAAAAAAASSSSSS tastes bad.
6. Alice in Wonderland
Off with their heads... okay maybe that's a bit harsh. Take a trip to Wonderland without the whole frills and rabbit thing (or do if that IS your thing). Paint the roses read and live your life. It's as easy as... taking a cookie that says "Eat Me."
7. Harley Quinn & The Joker
She was fearless and crazier than him. She was his queen, and God help anyone who dared to disrespect his queen... wait a second, this isn't Suicide Squad. Anyways, if your want to go the couple or pairs route... find The Joker to your Harley or vice versa.
8. Good ol' Comic Book style
Throw on a couple lines and you're good. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. It's actually a lot harder to get the clean lines to make you look like you just popped off the page (trust me on this). Maybe watch a few episodes of Archer to get inspired before you attempt the look OR google professional make-up artist Lianne Moseley for tips and tricks.
