With summer drawing to a close it's time to start making the most of the little late sunsets we have left and heading out for evening dinners and cocktails with your crew before it's too late! Zizzi is the perfect place for this with delicious food and a snazzy new cocktail menu as well as a killer up to 40% off food using your UNiDAYS App, what's not to love? We headed down to give some of their dishes a taste test, just, you know, to make sure it's great for you guys!

Drink up!

First and foremost, cocktails were on the agenda. We went straight for the PINK G & T, a tasty mix of Bombay Sapphire & tonic with strawberry purée, mint, cucumber & fresh raspberries. A few Aperol Spritz were in order as well which is glass full of sunshine including Aperol, Prosecco, soda and a fresh orange slice. These were our favourite but there's also the option to 'Pimp Your Prosecco' at Zizzi which includes adding in fruity syrup like peach or strawberry to make it a little more special.

Just for starters...

The winner for us in terms of starters is the awesome Cicchetti Sharing Board. I mean, this guy. It's packed with so many tasty things and can easily serve three. Pulled beef arancini were surefire winners of the bunch, these gooey, cheesy and smokey balls of tastiness were amazing. There were also mozzarella & pea arancini balls, chicken & pepper skewers (loved these!), calamari, mussel 'popcorn', Zizzi mixed olives & their famous 'little soul' bread which are tiny garlicy bread rolls that are so lovely.

The main event

We wanted to show you the range at Zizzi so a salad was in order for anyone watching the calories. Zizzi let you know which meals are under 600 calories with a little sign on their menu next to each dish. This Chicken & Prosciutto salad was one of them. Torn chicken, crispy prosciutto, avocado, roasted red onions, baby plum tomatoes, Grana Padano & croutons with spinach, rocket & mixed leaves, dressed with aioli was the name of the game here and it was so tasty. The pizza lovers in the group opted for all the meats but there was a huge selection of pizzas from veggie to cheesy but these are what we fancied the most from the Zizzi menu. First up, the Rustica Pizza Carnoso. This is a non-tomato base so great if you're not a tomato lover! The white base was smoked mozzarella and then topped with truffle-infused salami, crispy wild boar prosciutto, mushrooms, Grana Padano, crispy sage leaves & smoked garlic oil. Meaty! The other pizza on offer was the Rustica Pizza Sofia which consists of spicy chicken, pepperoni, spicy sausage, mozzarella, green chillies & rosemary. This was a hot one! Not for a chilli-hater but definitely tasted incredible. Both pizzas had leftovers and Zizzi popped them into a takeaway box, perfect for lunch the next day. Finally, another Italian favourite - pasta! The Lamb Meatballs Al Forno was the last main that we encountered. Torn roast lamb & red pepper meatballs, oven baked with casareccia pasta, smoked mozzarella, spinach & roast garlic cloves in a pomodoro sauce with a little chilli. A little bit spicy and a whole lot tasty.

Sweet treats

Even though we were full to bursting it would have been rude not to have given the dessert a try. Zizzi have a great range of sundaes, gelato and coffees as well as these epic puddings. We kicked off with two Chocolate & Banana Calzone - sweet, warm dough filled with banana, chocolate sauce & mascarpone cream, with vanilla gelato & salted caramel sauce. We didn't think there was enough chocolate in these bad boys but they were amazing all the same. The sweet banana works so well with the caramel sauce. Tiramisu is an Italian favourite and is right up there in the UNiDAYS hall of dessert fame. Zizzi didn't disappoint with this espresso soaked sponge of deliciousness. Finally the White Chocolate Cheesecake which was baked with raspberries and pistachio nuts was a sweet, sweet end to an awesome dinner. Zizzi also have an awesome new vegan menu and they can also alter a lot of their dishes to be vegan, vegetarian and gluten free so it's a fab place to head if you have specific dietary requirements.
