Fit the bill? Let’s go!

I’m not a UNiDAYS member, can I still enter?

Sorry, this competition is only for verified UNiDAYS members. If you think you’re eligible but not yet a member, you can join here for free.

Who are Pencils of Promise?

Pencils of Promise (PoP) is a for-purpose organization founded in 2008 with the goal of increasing access to quality education for children in the developing world. PoP works with communities across the globe to build schools and create programs that provide educational opportunities for children, no matter where they were born or what resources they have. Seriously, these guys rock! If you want to know more, check out their website.

What kind of video format can I submit?

We just need a link to your entry video. This can be hosted on any kind of video hosting platform such as Vimeo, YouTube or even your Instagram page. Although your entry doesn’t need to be searchable or public, just make sure you give permission for those with the URL to view it via the security settings. If we’re locked out, we can’t enter your video for judging.

How many winners will you choose?

We’re sending two lucky winners to Guatemala so you have double the chance!

Can I enter as many times as I like?

Unfortunately, you can only submit one entry per person so make it count.

Is there any reason my video would be disqualified?

Basically, just be a good person. If there’s any abuse, harassment or inappropriate content your video won’t be considered. By all means stand out from the crowd but make sure it’s for the right reasons. Double check your privacy setting for your video link, we can’t judge any videos that we don’t have permission to view, so we’ll have to disqualify any videos that we can’t access. To make sure this doesn’t happen, make sure you select the right option in your video security/privacy settings.

What will you do with my entry video?

Our judging panel will watch it to decide if you’re a winner. By entering the competition, you automatically give permission to UNiDAYS, American Apparel and/or Pencils of Promise to use your entry video we’ll want to tell the world what a hero you are!

How will it be judged?

The panel is made up of some very competent and very lovely people at both UNiDAYS and American Apparel. They’ll get their heads together in a brain trust to consider every single video before collaboratively picking two winners. They’re looking for passion, personality, uniqueness and a true warrior for equal education and social change.

When does the competition close?

This competition opens at midnight EST on January 22 and closes at midnight EST on February 12, so make sure you get your entry in before then!

How will I know if I’ve won?

We’ll contact you by email and/or phone within eight working days after the competition closes on February 12, so keep an eye out! If you’re a winner, you need to accept within three working days otherwise the prize will go to a runner up.

I’m busy July 12-16, can I still enter?

No rain checks, I’m afraid. These dates are set and can’t be moved, so you need to make sure you’re free at this time before entering.

Does it have to be Guatemala?

Yes, the prize is set so we can’t make any switch-ups, swaps or trades.

Do I have to pay anything?

UNiDAYS and American Apparel will supply your plane tickets and Pencils of Promise will take care of you while you’re in Guatemala. Any things you might have to pay for are any extras you need like travel vaccinations, luggage fees or visa fees for example. You’ll also need to cover the cost of your passport if you don’t already have one. All your travel arrangements will be made with American Apparel directly.

Can I enter with a buddy?

This opportunity is all about your unique personality! This time, you can’t enter with a friend or on behalf of anyone else.

Do I need to get any travel vaccinations?

It depends on the person but we recommend the winners check with their doctors to make sure they’re fully prepared and their health is protected. We can’t help with the cost of any health checks or vaccinations, unfortunately.
