3 spooky Halloween treats
Whether you’re throwing a party or just fancy getting into the spirit of things, making these Halloween treats is a big flex and they’ll defo go down a treat.
1. Mummified sausages
Make these spooky lil’ sausage mummies, ready to haunt your Halloween platter and impress your housemates!
Servings: 12
Ingredients
- 500g store-bought puff pastry
- 12 mini sausages or frankfurters
- 1 beaten egg or milk
- Something to make eyes (this could be sauce, peppercorns or even those edible eyes you can get from Hobbycraft!)
Method
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C
2. Roll out your puff pastry until it’s around 3mm and cut it into thin strips
3. Wrap each sausage tightly like a mummy, leaving a little gap for the "face”
4. Place them on a baking sheet, brush with the beaten egg wash or milk, and bake for 12-15 mins until golden
5. Once cooled, add the eyes and serve!
Tip: if you’re vegan or a veggie, replace the sausages with a meat-free alternative, check your pastry is vegan and use a plant milk to brush on the pastry before baking!
2. Halloweeny cake pops
These bite-sized treats are super easy to make but still give off a Halloween vibe.
Servings: 10-12, depending on how big you make ‘em!
Ingredients
- 200g chocolate or vanilla cake—you can use a pre-baked or shop-bought cake for this
- 100g of shop bought frosting
- 200g of your fave chocolate
- Halloween-themed sprinkles and edible decor (Hobbycraft or The Range is your gal for this)
Method
1. Crumble your cake into a large bowl, then mix in your frosting ‘til you get a dough-like consistency
2. Roll the dough into small balls, stick paper straws into each of the balls and pop them in the fridge for an hour firm up
3. Melt your chocolate and carefully dip each ball before coating with sprinkles and decorations.
4. Let them set in the fridge for 15 mins, then enjoy!
Tip: use half milk and half white chocolate if you fancy a mix.
