Exam results day can be pretty stressful. A lot of emphasis is put on the day, so you’re bound to feel nervous. It’s completely natural. Wanna go in with a better mindset this year? We’ve got you. Here are 4 ways to boss exam results day.
1. Get a good night's sleep
You know that horrible grouchy feeling you get when you haven’t had enough sleep? Yup, pair that feeling with results day. Ergh. It’s really not going to do you any favours if you’re feeling uptight and irritable, so try your hardest to get a good kip the night before. Now, I know this is easier said than done, but making a few simple changes like reducing screen time before bed, cutting down on the caffeine and getting into a proper routine will help you catch some Zs.
2. Have a positive attitude
Going into results day with the mindset that you’ve done really badly is a big no-no. You’re going to get yourself seriously worked up and it’s just not worth it. It can be hard to have a positive mindset when you’re surrounded by your peers who are equally as worried, so why not try and take yourself away from the situation and focus on you. An ‘I tried my best’ mindset is the best mindset.
3. Don't compare yourself to others
This is, without a doubt, one of the hardest parts of results day. There’s the opportunity for comparison everywhere. You’re bound to hear what results other people have received, but do not let this get into your head. Every single person has different abilities when it comes to exams so it is not fair to put yourself down based on what other people got. Focus on yourself, your results and your next steps.
4. Remember that there are other options
Even though it might not seem like it at the time, if you’re disappointed with your results, please remember that there are options available to you and there are people there to help you. Don’t ever think you’re alone. Speak to the people around you - whether that be advisors, teachers, family or friends, they will be able to help.
