From The Shining and 28 Days Later to Hocus Pocus and Rocky Horror Picture Show, DesignMyNight have rounded up the best and quirkiest places for Halloween film screening across the UK. Get ready for themed cocktails, confetti cannons, mass singalongs and vampire-inspired pizza at these bizarre cinema experiences.
The Grand’s Halloween Movie Nights - London
When it comes to Halloween, The Grand don’t ghoul around. This year they’re hosting a series of movie nights, screening everything from Ghostbusters and Hocus Pocus to Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Corpse Bride. With themed cocktails, balloon drops, confetti cannons, live singalongs and prizes for best dressed, you’d be dead silly to miss out.
Lost Boys Screening - London
Lost Boys Pizza are hosting a handful of movie nights in The Crypt beneath their pizza parlour in Tufnell Park this Halloween. Get your dose of horror as The Lost Boys flickers onto the big screen, and make your way through the bottomless beer, wine or bubbles until the credits roll. Hungry? You can dig your fangs into one of their charcoal pizzas - we’re big fans of The Coffin Dodger and Kale All Vampires.
Rivoli Pop-Up Cinema - London
If you want to take your Halloween to another level of creepy this year, hop on your broomstick and make tracks for Rivoli Ballroom. Dating all the way back to the early 1900s, it has original features from back in the day, and to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve they’re showing three chilling movies. Pick from The Shining, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Exhibit - London
The Exhibit are putting their cinema to good use this October by screening not one, not two and not three, but four hair-raising films. Pick from 28 Days Later, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ghost Stories or Ghostbusters (if you’re not one for watching a world that’s post-apocalyptic). Tickets are £8 a pop, but you can always splash out an extra £4 and upgrade your viewing with one of their tasty pizzas.
I Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghost Movie Night - London
Dirty Bones is an NYC-inspired restaurant with some of the best comfort food in the capital (think mac ‘n’ cheese loaded burgers and deep-fried chicken) and this Halloween they’ve brought out the big guns, screening Ghostbusters in their subterranean lounge. Tickets are £15 but they include two limited edition cocktails, nibbles and sweet treats.
Outdoor Screening of Hocus Pocus - Leeds
Hocus Pocus is turning 25 years old this year and to give it the attention it deserves, Sneaky Experience are putting it on the big screen at their outdoor cinema. There are two dates to choose from, but it’s on Saturday 27th when you can take part in a Hocus Pocus-inspired live action board game. Promising pop-up food and drink stalls with themed drinks, it’s well worth staying out late for.
Camp and Furnace - Liverpool
It’s said that bad behaviour is compulsory at ABSO Cinema. So, if you’re keen to get into some double trouble this Halloween, go to their Rocky Horror Picture Show screening. Kicking off at 6pm, this raucous night will be filled with mass singalongs, dance-offs, popcorn wars and confetti cannons - you know, the usual. If that’s still not enough for you, there are prizes for best costume and a bar with plenty of themed cocktails to boot.
