It’s a common misconception that once you go vegan, you’re entitled to only salad. I even thought this, as someone who couldn’t live without my weekly dose of halloumi cheese! I've found the extensive range of vegan food to be delicious and nutritious. One of the many questions I get asked all the time; is there actually anything you can eat here?’. Sometimes a vegan’s home is where the heart is; at a restaurant where there’s more than one vegan option.
1. Vegan Burgers by Mooshies
104 Brick Ln, London E1 6RL
Only a short walk from Liverpool Street, this place promises the burger-y deliciousness that vegans miss the most. Think luscious burger sauce, sweet potato fries, sliced cheddar ‘cheese’ and sweet gherkins. You’ll never want to leave. Don’t be put off by the small selection of plant-based burgers because you’ll never forget their mouth-watering offerings.
2. Vegan Hippo
52 Rupert St, Soho, London W1D 6DS
Hidden down the side streets of Soho, the Vegan Hippo guarantees delicious vegan cuisine. Make sure to try the range of enchanting cheesecakes on offer, as well as their kale chips. With friendly, communal seating, this restaurant is sure not to disappoint.
3. Vitao

Based in the beating heart of Central London, this raw buffet offers a variety of buffet food which is all vegan. Whether you want to take a handy takeaway box for lunch or you’re grabbing a plate inside, there's no limit on the amount of food you can have. Don’t forget to try the raw vegan brownies with hints of flaked coconut, amongst other vegan delicacies.
4. Norman’s Coach and Horses
29 Greek St, Soho, London W1D 5DH
You’ll never miss the traditional English pub food again with this next spot. Concealed in the core of Soho, this vegetarian/vegan hotspot will tickle your taste buds. Think Tofish and chips, a playful vegan pun on an English ritual.
5. Itadaki Zen
139 King's Cross Rd, Kings Cross, London WC1X 9BJ
When you go vegan, it's often thought that you give up the wide-ranging variety of cultured foods. But this could not be more wrong. Only four stops on the tube from Liverpool street is this Japanese restaurant! It's sure to curb those cravings for worldly foods. Try their new recipe of tofu spring rolls! You won't regret it.
6. 222 Veggie Vegan
222 North End Road, West Kensington, London, W14 9NU
From raw and organic food to vegan roasts and stir-frys; there’s no limit on the food that’s served. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu! Whether you’re trying new vegan dishes, wanting to taste something new or sticking to a new raw diet, there'll be something for you! With so many options, be sure to visit as many times as possible, even if it is just to sample the desserts.
7. Cookies and Scream
The Market Hall, Camden Lock Pl, London NW1 8AF
In the chaos of Camden market lies a bar veiled by the countless aromas of food fanning through the small walkways. With garishly dressed employees, this place will make you ‘scream’ with excitement. Ok, so this might not exactly be a restaurant, but you won’t be able to resist the milkshakes, cookie dough pie, ice cream sandwiches and more. All are gluten-free as well as vegan! A tip; brave the queue because when you finally fight your way to the front, you’ll be rewarded with the best sweet chocolate fudge milkshake.
