Fresh from his five wins at The Grammys, Kendrick Lamar has given us the gift that is the Black Panther album. The album, which Kendrick co-produced, was released today and I'm sure it's no surprise for anyone that King Kenny has killed it! Take a look at the album below, and what we think of the tracks and the awesome collabs.
Black Panther - Kendrick Lamar
The first track is a surprising number, as we hear K.Dot spitting some bars over just a piano.
All the stars - Kendrick Lamar & SZA
If you haven't already had this on repeat since its release, what have you been doing? Check out the amazing video below:
X - Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Saudi
This is the first track from the album we can imagine being played in the club. This song also introduces South-African rapper Saudi to the big leagues.
The ways - Khalid, Swae Lee
The collabs on this album are out of this world. This track sees our two fave RnB crooners come together for this song about their 'power girl.'
Opps - Vince Staples and Yugen Blakrok
This is the second collaboration between Vince Staple and Kendrick following 2017's 'Yeah Right.' This funky number is not Kendrick's normal style but we're definitely feeling it.
I Am - Jorja Smith
We're so happy to see our fellow Brit Jorja representing on the Black Panther soundtrack. After featuring on Drake's album and now this collab with Kendrick, things are just getting bigger and better for our girl!
Paramedic! - SOB x RBE
Hip Hop collective SOB x RBE team up with Kendrick on this track to create another club banger. Get ready to hear this when you're out.
Bloody Waters - Ab-Soul, Anderson .Paak and James Blake
THIS COLLAB THOUGH. This track contains some of the most talented musicians in the world right now. Anderson .Paak gives us his signature 'Yes Lawd' right at the start at the track and it only gets better from there. Throw in James Blake for the intro and outro and you've possibly got the best song on the album!
King's Dead - Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future and James Blake
Ok, maybe THIS star-studded collab is the best song on the album - who can decide? Also, what does the title of the song reveal about the plot of the film? So many questions?
Redemption Interlude
Redemption - Zacari and Babes Wodumo
This funky tune mixes the sounds of South African Kwaito artists with the sweet vocals of Kendrick favourite, Zacari.
Seasons - Mozzy, Sjava and Reason
This chilled tune is one of those tracks that'll lurk and then have the potential to be one of your faves.
Big Shot - Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott
In this song, both artists explore the lives of being rich and famous, with lots of shout-outs to the very wealthy land of Wakanda, where Black Panther comes from.
Pray For Me - The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar
This track was released a couple of days in advance to the album release and wet our appetite for the full album! Both artists channel Black Panther himself in this song and it's getting us so amped up to see the movie next week!
