Brunch goals with PhD Nutrition

Exam time is tricky. You can get into a rut of jumping out of bed, grabbing some breakfast biscuits or a piece of toast and heading to the library as soon as you can. By not having a proper breakfast you're not going to be setting yourself up for a productive day of studying as well as you can. To fuel your revision you need a great breakfast packed with protein and slow releasing carbohydrates to keep you fuller for longer and make sure you're not reaching for the sugary snacks at around 11am. We've teamed up with PhD Nutrition to show you three awesome breakfasts that are perfect for exam and revision time!

Perfect pancakes

When you've got a little bit more time in the morning it's a good idea to have a really filling and nutritious breakfast. Try these amazing protein pancakes which feel more like a dessert than a breakfast if you want a treat to set you up for a day of studying. I used the PhD Tricellar Whey which is really clever and innovative because it contains whey protein and slow release micellar casein and micelle xl casein. Long words but seriously smart. This mix of protein means that your body will slowly be fed protein throughout the day which means you're getting the ingredients over a longer period of time so you don't have to worry about topping up your protein levels every few hours if you're busy in the library. Article_PhdNutrition To make these amazing protein pancakes you will need:
  • 1 x packet of PhD Nutrition Tricellar Whey (around 25g)
  • 40g of oat flour (just blitz up oats in a food processor if you don't have this)
  • 2 egg whites
  • 10-15 blueberries
  • 60ml of any milk of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon nut butter
All you need to do is whizz all of the ingredients in a blender or a smoothie maker until it's a smooth consistency. This mixture will make about 5 good size pancakes and will really fill you up for the day. Top with honey, nuts and fresh fruit for a flavour combination that wins every time!

Shake it up

When time is short and you need to rush out the door to bag your favourite computer in the library it's time for a quick shake. An awesome ingredient to bulk out your morning smoothie is PhD Protein Superfood, this clever product is packed with plant proteins which have around 14g of protein per serving and a whole load of goodness such as matcha tea, goji berries, acai and baobab powders which will ensure you're getting all the vitamins and minerals you need. Plus, add extras berries, oats or bananas to really keep you full alongside the protein packed Superfood powder. ‌

Breakfast on the go

Don't feel like eating first thing? Sometimes eating is the last thing you want to do if you're nervous about an exam but if you can't face something big, a Protein Flapjack can the perfect thing to fill up the tank quickly! These have an amazing 19g of protein per flapjack and are really low in sugar unlike your standard flapjacks. ‌
They also tonnes of carbs to help your brain function properly as well as Vitamin E which is packed full of antioxidants. Available in three flavours, Peanut Butter, Forest Berries and Apple & Raspberry. Obviously as peanut butter fiends in the UNiDAYS® office, the Peanut Butter flavour was our absolute favourite, really tasty and satisfying. Blog-Perk-PHDNutrition_UK30
