Uni life can be pretty hectic and I understand that your skincare regime is probably not up there on your never-ending list of things to do. However, if you’re a makeup lover... looking after your skin could give you some nice benefits including that flawless base you’ve been dreaming off and the move from a high coverage to a low coverage foundation.
With all the late nights, junk food and rolling out of bed 10 mins before your lecture, student life isn’t ideal for those wanting to look after their skin. These 5 tips can really make a difference if you stick at it and add an extra 5 minutes to your morning and night routine.
1. Stop squeezing your spots
If you’ve got a spot on your face, the first thing you want to do is pick it. But don’t. As clean as your hands may look, they’ll actually be covered in bacteria. If you’re touching an angry spot, you’ll only be adding debris to that pimple and making it a whole lot worse. Avoid at all costs.
2. Always use SPF
The effects of sun exposure might not show for years to come, but it can lead to premature ageing and nobody has time for that. SPF should be used even throughout winter to protect your skin from those harmful rays. Try using a moisturiser or foundation with SPF to protect your skin from sun damage, without having to add an extra step to your routine.
3. Look after your skin at night
Rule number 1 of looking after your skin at night: never sleep in your makeup. Forgetting to remove your makeup one night a week after your mad night out won't cause too many problems. But if it’s a continuous thing, your pores will become clogged resulting in more breakouts. No thank you.
4. Stay hydrated
We all know that drinking plenty of water has all the health benefits, and this extends to your skincare too. Drinking lots of water hydrates your skin and gives you a radiant and looking healthy glow… all free of charge.
5. Keep up with your skincare routine
Remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is your glowing skin. Stick at it and you’lll start to reap your rewards.
