Oh world, you’re a big ol’ place; with the rise of online communities like Instagram and Snapchat, it’s even easier to travel the globe without leaving your couch. But where’s the adventure in that? We’re more for using the ‘gram to research our next big adventure, and then, with the right hashtags and filters, take our own amazing pics to share with our fellow wanderlusters to inspire an epic chain reaction of holidays #squadgoals
Presenting, the definitive guide on the world’s most Instagrammable travel spots. We’ll double tap to that!
Japan
You crazy diamond, you’ve got the right amount of everything. From Tokyo’s Shibuya Scramble and neon lights of Shinjuku, to Kyoto’s curving red torri at Fushimi Inari Taisha, Miyajima’s floating shrine and the friendliest deer on the planet, you tick all the city/nature/kawaii boxes.

Ooh la la. Birds-eye snap of your croissant and black coffee breakfast, avec a gingham tablecloth? Oui. What about the ol’ ‘pinching the top of the Eiffel Tower optical illusion’ pic? Oh, j’adore. The beautiful cobbled streets and symmetrical gardens of Paris, the lavender and sunflower fields of Provence, and hordes of the most stylish peeps in the world provide perfect French Insta-spam for your feed.
Greece
One word. Santorini. #bluefordays
Turkey
Spoiler alert: Turkey is the most beautiful – and most photogenic – country in the world. For realsies. Look no further than Istanbul’s Blue Mosque and Basilica Cistern, Cappadocia’s fairy caves and awesome hot air balloon sunrises, and cats. Prowling the streets. Sitting on docks. Sleeping on books. Everywhere.
Iceland
Ironically, this chilly country is particularly hot right now, and it comes up oh so well in pictures, no matter where you go. With its colourful Reykjavik houses, rainbow-hued waterfalls, sweeping green vistas and iridescent Blue Lagoon, it’s a ‘gram-stas paradise. Also, cats.
Mexico
Where do we even start? With the tacos and mezcal (#foodporn) or the ye olde architecture of Oaxaca? The pristine cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula or the outrageously perfect sunrises of Tulum? Decisions, decisions…
Peru
Lost cities, floating islands and llamas: need we say more? Capital Lima has a couple of pretty impressive vantage spots (here’s looking at you, El Malecon) but it’s when you get into the higher altitudes of Cuzco, Lake Titicaca and – obvs – Machu Picchu that the real magic starts to reveal itself. Guaranteed red hearts from followers.
India
Selfies at the Taj Mahal, selfies at the Pink City, selfies with smiling locals, selfies with rogue cows. And when you tire of the perpetually pulled photo face, snap the colourful bazaars of Madurai, the spectacular Virupaksha Temple in Hampi, or the bustling ghats along the Ganges.
