Top tips to improve your revision
Jumpscare: exam season is cominggg. Have you started revising yet? No? Don’t panic, everybody revises in their own way. You may need to revise for months before, or you might prefer to cram and leave it until the night before (PSA: don’t do this).
Draw up a timetable
Draw up a timetable so you can effectively plan your time. If you keep your revision sessions 20-30 minutes long with 5-minute breaks in between, you’ll be able to concentrate best.
Play to your strengths
Do you learn more from writing something down, reading it or saying it out loud? Figure out how you learn best and use it to your advantage.
Find your best revision spot
Whether that be the library, a coffee shop or your desk, make sure you aren’t sitting in bed. Being in a learning environment will make your brain work harder as it associates the environment you’re in with studying, what a hack.
Treat yourself
When you’ve had a productive day, treat yourself to an everything shower, your fave food or a few hours of watching your favourite TV show. Your brain needs the downtime, and you defo deserve the treat!
Try not to stress
It’s totally normal to get a little stressed whilst revising. But try not to let it take over. Read our tips on ways to cope with stress, you’ve got this!
Water and sleep
Staying hydrated will boost your productivity and ensure you don’t start to slump. The same goes for sleep. Your body and brain need to rejuvenate after a hard day's work, and going to bed at 2am isn’t going to do you any favours!
Exercise
Whether it be a 45-minute yoga sesh, a 30-minute run or even a 15-minute brisk walk to uni, your brain function has been proven to improve after exercise! If you’re not feeling like breaking a sweat, meditation has also been proven to help memory, attention span and reduce stress.
