LAUREN COFFEY
GLOBAL DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE
What did you study at university, and where?
Fashion Marketing & Communications at Nottingham Trent University—way back in 2005.
What was your first role out of uni?
I worked all the way through uni in a small boutique learning everything from buying and window dressing to customer marketing and events. Straight after my course, I started at my-wardrobe.com which aimed to challenge Net-A-Porter. It immersed me in the world of digital, which was priceless experience.
Tell us a little about your current role—the good, the bad, and the ugly!
No day is the same (which I love)! One day I’m pitching a shoot concept, the next I’m scouting a location, casting models, on my hands and knees wafting a models hair, doing a budget presentation or in a 6-hour-long meeting about upcoming projects. I’ve got a super creative team, and we work HARD.
What do you love about the beauty industry?
Know the culture, know your products and think outside the box. The beauty world moves at breakneck pace and is ever-evolving. Oh and data, ask for the data… it never lies!Interested in a career at ghd? Check out their job openings to begin your journey into beauty!
