When winter rolls around, I don’t know about you, but I prefer those extra 15 cosy minutes in bed in the morning over trying to get my contour right in the dingy morning light. But, I still like to look vaguely presentable for headin’ out into the big wide world so I like to wear a bit of makeup, along with a tonne of dry shampoo, naturally. So, here’s a few products and a bit of a routine to look fresh but still natural in a super easy way.
1. Bronze it up
Forget blush on a day when you’re in a rush - that’s a cute little poem isn’t it? Well, remember this beauty rhyme and you’ll always look fresh and be on time. Oh stop it, I did it again?! Anyway, work it like Pretty Sickly blogger Yanin and rock a bronze cheek with a load of highlighter. You’re skipping a step and a product and the look is super cool and modern.
2. Glossy lids
If eyeshadow usually takes you a little time to perfect in the mornings then switching to an eye gloss or even just a swipe of your bronzer can be a super time saver but can also look really put together. Check out Anna from The Anna Edit with her killer brows too!
3. Clear or nude lipgloss
I do not have time (or energy) for lip liner and perfect liquid lipstick most mornings so a slick of nude or clear gloss over a nude matte lipstick is perfect for pulling the final look together whilst running out the door or on the bus on the way to work! Stunning YouTuber Uche Natori is rocking the clear gloss here over a slick of MAC lipstick. Psst, did you know you can save 10% on MAC Cosmetics with your UNiDAYS discount?
4. Buildable coverage
Blogger babe, Laura Bradshaw has the flawless skin look down with the new Bareminerals base product which is available from Feelunique and Lookfantastic with your UNiDAYS discount! A tinted moisturiser is the ultimate time saver for morning makeup that still looks natural because it’s basically two or three products in one. Plus, this has a buildable formula so you can simply add a little more if you want a thicker base.
5. The one-palette face
If it’s not the application of your favourite beauty goodies that’s the time-zapper, it’s actually finding them all in your Mary Poppins style make up bag then a one-palette look is perfect for you. Amy Conway, Bobbi Brown makeup artist and YouTube babe is using the Bronzed Nude Palette for this look including her eyes and highlighter. Speedy, huh?
6. Smudgy eyes
When it comes to easy makeup, the perfect look has to be a smokey and smudgy eye with a neat base and a swish of bronzer and highlighters. This look has again been created with the amazing palette from the above look by another stunning Bobbi Brown pro, Adeola Gboyega. She whipped up this gorgeous look in 10 minutes using some clever products and probably a lot of skill to get it done that well, that quickly! She’s gone for a nude lip gloss to finish off the look a la Uche above too. Classic, chic and easy breezy - these looks are all simple to complete yet still look polished, fresh and not too heavy for a day at uni or in the office.
To finish off, a few more tips that I like to try when time-saving in the morning are…
Keep on top of my tanning routine so I don’t feel like I need that much makeup!
invest in treatments like eyelash curling and brow tinting to get rid of an extra step or two in my routine.
Use 2-in-1 products like moisturisers with an added primer.
Every little thing will shave off a few minutes and you’ll be spending more time dreaming and less time grooming in the morning. Sounds good to me!
