What to do during freshers if you don't drink

Freshers week is largely focused around drinking and clubbing, however, if you’re going to be a newbie fresher soon and you don’t drink or enjoy going clubbing then here are a few events that you might consider attending.

Food festivals

Search for food fest’s in your city or food markets. This is a really fun activity, tasting authentic food from different parts of the world. This can be a good way to initiate some friendships too! Your university accom should have social pages on Facebook, be sure to join those and maybe post an open invite to see if other people fancy tagging along.

Fresher fairs

Every university will hold a freshers fair, so be sure to find out exactly when your freshers fair is. Grab a load of people from your accommodation and head over to your unis fresher fair, here you’ll be able to bag yourself a ridiculous amount of free pens, notebooks, bottles of water, vouchers for various fast-food/restaurants. Definitely worth attending.

Ice-breaker events

Some university accommodations will appoint someone as their social rep. A social rep will attend and organise for fellow students to attend those events too. Whether they’re day trips, evening trips or club events.

Your assigned social rep should be easily approachable and easy to get along with.

Join uni society clubs

Joining society clubs enables you to meet new people from different courses, campuses and accommodations. It’s also something additional to add to your CV and another way to gain new skills as well as develop on your current skills.
