Our smartphone is basically our best friend; the gatekeeper to the ugly selfies that you forget to delete, we can't live without it!  But did you know that your smartphone has OTHER pretty cool uses?  Check out these top smartphone hacks that will literally change your life.

1. The sound system hack

Imagine this scenario: You're sitting in your friends back yard and you've found this amazing new track by your favourite artist, yet your friends dock doesn't have an adaptor to plug your phone into in order to play it out loud (annoying huh!).  Did you know that if you grab a glass or bowl that's big enough to fit your phone into, it acts as a sound amplifier which means you'll never be without a portable speak of sorts.  This hack also works with your alarm clock too.  If you're a really heavy sleeper and that standard "By The Seaside" alarm track just isn't working, use this glass trick and you'll be waking every time.

2. The emergency contact hack

A hack that everyone with an iPhone should be aware of in my personal opinion, is the Medical ID hack.  In the event that something happens to you, like being involved in an accident.  You can set up a medical ID that attaches itself to the "emergency" button on your passcode screen that provides a doctor or friend with medical notes as well as your emergency contact number. To set up your Medical ID: click into the Health App> click Medical ID> click Edit> change the "Show When Locked" option to yes> edit your emergency details> Complete!

3. The lamp hack

Do you find your torch light on your phone to be a bit limited? Enhance that light by placing a transparent water bottle, full of water, over the torch and there you have the perfect makeshift lamp!

4. The charging hack

We're always wishing that our phone would charge quicker. More time plugged into the wall means less screen time eek! To speed up your charging time simply turn on flight mode and all your apps will pause in order to let your phone re-juice.  Who knew it could be so easy?
