Podcast Away
From Netflix and Hulu to YouTube and Spotify, there is so much media one can consume on a daily basis. While everyone knows about the more popular sources of entertainment like TV, music, and movies, there is one important kind that can often be overlooked: podcasts. Podcasting has become very popular in the last couple of years, and listening to one is a great way to spend a commute and any downtime learning something new or simply zoning out the surrounding world. Here are a couple of different podcasts to listen to, depending on your interests.
For the True-Crime Lover:
The Last Podcast on the Left
In this podcast, three friends, Henry, Ben, and Marcus of the Last Podcast Network delve into different murders, serial killers, cults, and conspiracy theories. Their heavy research paired with an abundance of humor is sure to entertain and inform.
For the Historian:
Revisionist History
Journalist Malcolm Gladwell, author of books like “Outliers” and “The Tipping Point,” looks at the “overlooked and misunderstood” events of the past in this Panoply podcast. The ideas in “Revisionist History” provide a new understanding and intrigue to things one may think they already have a firm grasp on.
For the Investigator:
Invisibilia
This National Public Radio podcast, hosted by Alix Spiegel and Hanna Rosin, explores omnipresent unseen ideas and forces that “control human behavior and shape our ideas, beliefs, and assumptions.” Upon listening, one sees the world a little differently in ways they may not have expected.
For the Foodie:
Bite
In this Mother Jones podcast, farming blogger Tom Philpott, editors Kiera Butler and Maddie Oatman explore a variety of stories about food with their guests: where it originated to how it gets on your plate, and more. It is described as “a podcast for people who think hard about their food.”
