Open since 1991, Chelsea’s Big Easy knows a thing or two about knocking up fun American classics, barbecued meats and seafood. Wrap your gnashers around a classic smokehouse burger - if you can - and you’ll see what we’re talking about: a stomach-testing tower of deep-fried onions, bacon, cheddar and two beef patties. If you’re after something a little different, why not try their surf ’n’ turf beef and crab burger, or perhaps a spicy black bean and avocado bite with chipotle mayo for a lighter meal.

Get your chops on a gourmet bite, courtesy of 12:51. Created by a Michelin-trained chef, this restaurant is upping London’s burger game with culinary fast food delivered to houses within a 3.5 mile radius of their Islington base. On the small but mighty menu is a simple chicken burger - but this dish is anything but ordinary. Crispy confit chicken comes topped with a drool-worthy slathering of scotch bonnet jam, smoked bacon crumb, blue cheese mousse - swoon - and burnt tomato relish for one hell of a meal. Vegetarians are also in luck with a cauliflower and Montgomery cheddar kromeski and satay sauce option up for grabs.

Absurd Bird - Glasgow

Your one-stop-shop for all things chicken, Absurd Bird has gained a name for dishing up some of the best wings, waffle combos and burgers around. Treat yourself to a midweek lunch deal from the Glasgow eatery, offering a tasty burger and drink for only £7.95, or challenge yourself to their fittingly-named messy fried chicken - a mega mix of fried chicken, mac and cheese, jalapenos and cheese sauce. Although with fruity cocktails and milkshakes on hand to wash it down, we’re sure you can manage.

Dog Bowl - Manchester

Breakfast burger, anyone? Bowling all its fellow burger competitors out of the running, Manchester’s Dog Bowl is getting your day off to a cracking start with their unconventional waffle burger. Switching out the buns for a freshly-made waffle, fillings come in the form of a sausage patty, jack cheese and burger sauce, whilst an accompanying side of fries add the finishing touches. Available everyday from 10am till 2pm, this has all the makings for a leisurely brunch in your PJs.

Buffalo & Rye - Birmingham

Serving up good ol’ American nosh at its finest, Buffalo & Rye are pros when it comes to BBQ and grilled goodies. Working with local farmers and suppliers, the food at this Birmingham spot is guaranteed to be fresh and flavoursome, with beef and black pudding burgers, BBQ jackfruit corkers and buttermilk chicken whoppers keeping growling tums at bay. Pull out the big guns with a side of cajun fries and chicken tenders for a night of grazing.
