What is Project Everest Ventures (PEV)?

“We create socially beneficial products and services that are tailored to solving issues in local communities. Affordable, effective, sustainable, and consistently available solutions to real-world problems.” PEV is an organisation made up of social entrepreneurs who believe in leaving the classroom and changing the world—y’know, putting everything you’ve learned at uni into practice irl.

PEV partners with unis all over Australia to offer immersive internships in locations like Fiji, Malawi, India, and Timor Leste. The focus of these programs is to establish business solutions to social issues in the developing world e.g. education, health, agriculture, environmental sustainability.

I’m heaps keen to leave the classroom and change the world. Am I eligible to enter?

I’m not a UNiDAYS member. Is it cool if I enter?

Er… Soz, but this comp’s only open to verified UNiDAYS members. If you reckon you’re eligible but you’re not a member, it’s fast and free to join. And what have you got to lose? Worst case scenario, you get access to heaps of discounts. Join here.

Technical question: what kind of format should I submit my entry in?

Doesn’t matter, so long as you link to it in your entry form and we can view it! Any vid over 90 seconds or blog over 500 words won’t be considered, so please bear that in mind.

How many winners will there be?

One. But first, UNiDAYS will select five finalists. These legends will attend an interview with PEV, who will pick the ideal candidate for this incredible internship. Give it all ya got, and don’t be shy: go ahead and make some noise about it on social! If you do decide to get social, be sure to tag us and PEV.

Can I enter as many times as I like? Pretty please?

You can only submit one entry per person, so give it heaps!

Is there any reason my entry might be disqualified?

Incomplete or indecipherable entries won’t count – and if your vid isn’t viewable, we won’t be able to judge it, so keep an eye on those access permissions #sharingiscaring. The work must be your own, so keep it original, too.

Got it. How is this being judged?

Once the judges have reviewed all the content and five finalists have been chosen, PEV will interview them. PEV is an organisation made up of young social entrepreneurs who believe the best way of learning is through doing, so they want someone who’s super-keen to put their know-how into action and build something that matters in the real world.

When does the comp close?

This comp is active from from March 23, 2019 at 12:01 am AEST – April 23, 2019 at 11:59 pm AEST. Please submit your entry before the cut-off date!

How do I know if I’ve won?

The five finalists will be contacted via email/phone/social within five working days of the comp closure date. If a finalist can’t be reached within seven days, the judges will select another finalist. From there, PEV will be in touch to organise an interview. Once this process is complete, the winner will be announced on or before May 12, 2019.

Can I collab with a buddy on my entry?

You can’t enter with a friend or on behalf of anyone else—this comp is all about you, champ.
