Well, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Here are 10 ways to save on your summer holiday.

1. Be flexible on dates

If you’re willing to be flexible with dates and flight times, you can save so much money. Off peak travel dates (before schools break up) tend to be the best prices, or booking really last minute might get you a cheeky deal.

2. Go somewhere different

Where is everyone heading this summer? As soon as a destination is popping off on TikTok, expect prices to rise! Instead, think of unique, lesser known locations to have the summer of your dreams.

3. Travel to airports further away

It might seem a bit longgg, but travelling to a different airport can actually save you hundreds. Be flexible and why not grab a train, FlixBus or National Express coach to get you there?

4. Book a hostel

Hostels are usually more cost effective than hotels, and many offer a private room option if you’re not feeling the shared bunk beds! With UNiDAYS, you can also get 8% Off with Hostelworld.

5. Pack light

If larger baggage isn’t included with your flight, get savvy and create a holiday capsule wardrobe. Choose a couple of pairs of shoes and pick tops and bottoms that work well mixed and matched—remember to wear your bulkiest things to travel in too!

6. Don’t forget to barter

In a lot of locations, the price they initially tell you for souvenirs, excursions and taxi rides is a little bit negotiable. Get your barter on, and see if you can save some money in the process!

7. Eat like a local

Avoid the spots full of tourists, and eat where the locals are eating. Chances are, you’ll end up with more authentic food at a more affordable price.

8. Ditch the taxis and use public transport

Suss out the bus or train routes for easy access to different areas during your trip. Taxis can add up, so always do your research to see if there’s an alternative.

9. Hunt for free activities

From museums and monuments to festivals, discover what free events and activities are available during your holiday.

10. Save your coins with UNiDAYS
