The world of gaming moves quickly and 2025 is no exception. We’ve already been treated with titles like Avowed and Civilization 7, but there’s much, much more to come.
So, from DOOM: The Dark Ages to Pokémon Legends: Z-A (and hopefully some Switch 2 announcements along the way), let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games we can’t wait to get our hands on later this year.
1. DOOM: The Dark Ages
We’re so back. Or, are we? DOOM: The Dark Ages is actually a prequel to the modern franchise. We’re stoked for a cinematic story, with the same, unbelievable visuals we’ve become accustomed to throughout the series. New guns, flail-type weapons, a mech… a MECH DRAGON? This is shaping up to be something special, set to release 13 May across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
2. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Sandfall Interactive is set to launch its debut title and, from what we’ve seen, it’s looking like a seriously cool RPG. The open world is screaming out for players to get completely lost in and the turn-based action could make battles feel more interactive than ever, plus the soundtrack is on another level. In other words, we can’t wait. Available from 24 April on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. See you there.
3. Split Fiction
Now, hear us out. We know Split Fiction has already dropped, but it’s landed so successfully it needed a shoutout here. Navigate fantasy and sci-fi worlds in this co-op classic featuring cyber ninjas, dragon-taming, unique challenges and fresh mechanics. Plus, cross-platform? Amazing. Check out Split Fiction on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC now.
4. Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Moving on from previous Pokémon Legends titles, Nintendo is set to launch Z-A on Nintendo Switch systems later in 2025, with plenty of new features, including real-time battle mechanics and Mega Evolutions for fan faves from previous generations, including the likes of Lucario and Gardevoir. Expect innovations and a bold direction as we head to the world of Lumiose City.
5. Borderlands 4
A kingpin in the world of looter-shooter action, Borderlands returns with another fresh lineup of Vault Hunters. This time, we’re heading away from Pandora to blast our way through enemies in search of new treasures. We don’t know many details about the game yet, but its launch is scheduled for September for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Expect the same level of humour found in Borderlands 2 and, of course, billions of weapons and gear for players to acquire.
Don’t forget, there’s still hope for a sunny trip to Leonida State (AKA Florida) later this year. Will Grand Theft Auto 6 drop? Who knows, but if it does, we will be there.
