And what better way to celebrate than by watching some of the most iconic and hair-raising horror films of all time? Ditch the ‘flix and instead head to one of these unique screenings - from floating silver screens to bottomless cinemas that put the ‘boo’ in boozy. Rivoli Ballroom - London

Set in one of London’s last remaining ballrooms, the Rivoli fright night pop-up cinema comes complete with low-hanging chandeliers, a huge HD screen and ghosts of Strictly Come Dancing past (beware of Boo-no Tonioli). This October, they’re showing creepy classics like The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with tickets starting at a far less scary £10.

The Grand - London

Grab your broomsticks witches, The Clapham Grand is once again transforming into a haunted theatre for a special screening of Disney’s Hocus Pocus where booing, boozing and boogying is highly encouraged. Expect ghoulish cocktails, a themed-photobooth and blood-curdling balloon drops at this South London spookfest.

Lost Boys Pizza - London

The team behind London’s only vampire-themed pizzeria are, of course, sinking their fangs into Halloween festivities. Tickets for their bottomless screening of The Cabin in The Woods include a black charcoal pizza and free-flowing beer, wine or prosecco, with the option of cushty sofa seats for those looking to splash the cash.

Batch - London

Located in Peckham, Batch is converting its secret plant-filled space into an enchanting cinema room just in time for the spooky season. Tickets for this drink-along screening of 90s hits Scream and Scream 2, are only a fiver and include a welcome drink as well as unlimited popcorn - a scarily good deal.

FEST Camden - London

FEST Camden’s roof terrace cinema puts your bog-standard local picture house to shame. Decked out in ghoulish decorations with cosy blankets to hide behind keep warm, their late-night screening of Silence of The Lambs is set to be a heart-in-mouth affair. £18.95 tickets will get you a stone-baked pizza, popcorn and a glass of mulled wine (perfect for settling that ever-rising heart rate).

The Exhibit - London

The Exhibit cinema is a less blood-curdling, more boutique affair, with plush sink-yourself- into-sofas, surround sound and a mouth-watering menu of cocktails, burgers and pizzas. Don’t be fooled by the luxe surroundings however, when the lights go off and Pet Semetary flickers onto the screen this place will soon become the stuff of nightmares. The ultimate devilish date-night, opt for dinner and bottomless fizz to get things off to a supernatural start.

Bison Beer North Laine - Brighton

Dead keen on zombie comedies? Us too. Luckily the team at Bison Beer on North Laine in Brighton are hosting a screening of cult classic Shaun of The Dead, followed by a film-themed quiz packed with petrifying prizes. The best part? This bar is loaded up with a huge range of craft beers, so should the worst happen (in terms of zombie apocalypses), you’ll be able to have a nice cold pint, and wait for it to blow over.

The Bottomless Cinema - Manchester

If you want a slice of the spooky screening action but prefer to keep things a little more PG, head to Manchester’s famed bottomless cinema. Screening the first film from the Harry Potter series in a top-secret location, tickets to this Sunday afternoon event come complete with bottomless drinks and popcorn brought to you via waiter service. We’re not saying you should drink every time Ron says blimey, but you could.

Floating Cinema at Albert Dock - Liverpool

Albert Dock is set to transform into a giant waterborne cinema this October with cosy blankets, beanbags and deckchairs. Hop onto the floating jetty and settle yourself in for a night of cult classics, with the likes of Nightmare Before Christmas, Psycho and The Rocky Horror Picture Show topping the bill at this Scouse screamfest.

Halloween Outdoor Cinema - Leeds

Illuminated by the flickering lights of Interview With a Vampire, the grand surroundings of Kirkstall Abbey will have you feeling like you’ve been transported to Count Dracula’s Transylvanian lair.
