Exam season is nearly over and you deserve a break! Like most people, you’re probably thinking about hitting somewhere sunny, with at least a couple of bars and all of your best buds.

There’s nothing else like a lads holiday, there’s just something about them. Some might even say they’re a British institution. With that in mind, before you start packing those cases here’s a little reminder of 7 things you can expect to happen once you jump in that taxi.

Eyeing up the other lads holiday goers

You’ve finally reached the airport, you’re the boss now. Your parents are long gone, it’s just you and your mates. Then you get through departures and are greeted by every other group of guys going to the same place as you. Some will become your new best mates, some might just become your lads holiday rival. Bigger arms than you? A better tan? You just can’t stop yourself from checking them out!

The airport beer

This one goes without saying really. Regardless of the time, you can’t beat a pint at the airport. Nothing gets you better prepared than a breakfast and a pint at 4:30 am before a four-hour flight. Delicious.

The holiday anthem

There’s one tune every year that is a certified banger and you can always rely on at least one pal to whip out his iPhone and trusty bluetooth speaker as you gather round and start practising your moves for the night ahead.

It’s not what you went there for but you can guarantee one of your mates is going to get a little bit too pally this holiday. There’s always one of the team that ends up falling in love with the first girl he meets. Can’t think who it is in your group? Well, it’s probably you!

The water park visit

There’s usually at least one day of your holiday where you’ll crawl out of bed and decide to venture away from the hotel and what could be more fun that visiting a waterpark? Nothing says holiday more than standing in queues wet through, nearly losing your swim shorts and slipping over on a slide and falling through the air in a wet tunnel.

It may be 2017 but lads holiday t-shirts are still actually a thing. There will be one mate that arranges the whole thing, a WhatsApp group debating over which funny slogan to have and one mate that will never, ever actually pay up for his t-shirt until the day he dies.

The pain of waiting to come home

Nothing can describe the pain you’ll feel in the airport waiting to return home. There will be sunburn, there will be headaches and there may even be a broken heart but despite it all, you’ll still know deep inside, you just had the best lads holiday ever.
